When you decide to step out for a weekend getaway, you want to stay at a place that is your money’s worth. Unfortunately, for the price we paid, we had a so-so experience at The Orchard Resort.
Booking: We made an online booking directly though the booking office. There wasn’t any issue with the booking process and it was quite smooth.
Travel: The location is tricky. They do not have too many sign boards on the route and that was quite disappointing. Although google maps shows two roads that lead to the destination, one of them is a complete no-no. Muddy road that leads to nowhere. If the road you’re taking doesn’t seem too right, it probably isn’t.
Resort: The resort is decent. They have a pool, a TT table and pool table and an inhouse veg, non veg restaurant. There is no jacuzzi as mentioned in their amenities. The pool is quite small and was pretty crowded on the day we visited. We couldn’t even spot a spa in the resort and upon inquiring, we were told that they provide in room massages. The rooms were nice. Spacious, clean and well maintained, no complaints here.
Restaurant: This was the most disappointing part of the stay. The restaurant was terrible. If you don’t opt for their buffet meals, be prepared to wait for your a la carte order for over an hour. We ordered for cheese corn balls, which arrived after 50 mins, slightly burnt. When asked the waiters what took them so long, we were told ‘It’s all prepared fresh!’. Very disappointing.
The restaurant is not open 24 hours so incase you expect room service post midnight, they will bluntly refuse, even if it’s just soft drinks.
Overall, we had an average experience, decent for a day’s visit. Although paying 5800 per room with just breakfast inclusive is quite steep. There are definitely better options in Lonavala.
