Weekend Getaway – Pooja’s Farms, Kolad

Somedays, you want to just get away from the hustle bustle of the city and spend sometime with nature. If you don’t wish to travel too far to enjoy the gift of nature, head to Pooja’s Farms in Kolad.

Muddy roads leading to lake view cottages and a frill-free experience, leave your high maintenance friends behind as this one is a rustic gem!

Booking: We made a prior booking as we were visiting the place on a weekend. They gave us an option of a bank transfer or a cash drop at their Mumbai office. The rest of the process was smooth.

Travel: Once you reach Kolad, there are road signs and directions to the Farm appear after every few metres. Don’t depend on your GPS as network is relatively low in the area.

The Farm: We opted for the Cottages on Water. One cottage can accomodate upto 8 people and is located right on the edge of the lake. Nothing feels better than waking up to a view that this cottage offers. The beds are clean and comfortable. These cottages were not air conditioned but since it was the month of December, we didn’t need any. There are no attached bathrooms and be prepared to use the common washrooms.

The entire property is huge and has a farm on one side. The restaurant is located right in the centre and its green all around. Take a walk through the entire property and you will be able to spot some gorgeous birds and flowers dancing to the breeze. Our package also included a bon fire which was set up by the management by the end of the evening and went on for about 2 hours. Totally worth it.

Restaurant: The resort offers three meals – breakfast, lunch, dinner. The food is nothing spectacular but nevertheless tasty. They have a buffet spread for lunch and dinner with a veg option, non veg option, dal, rice and sweet dish. They don’t serve any food from lunch to 7 PM so carry your snacks and chips.

Getting There: There are 2 direct trains from Mumbai to Kolad. But it is best to take your personal vehicle or a hired cab to Pooja’s Farm.

P.S: There is no mobile network there but you can make calls from their office land line phone.

  1. Hearing about Pooja’s Farms in Kolad for the first time, even though it is not very far from Mumbai. The pictures looks amazing and seems like a perfect weekend get away! Just like you, we would also probably opt for the Cottages on Water. I could picture the place and would love to visit. The best part is no mobile network 🙂

  2. Pooja farms in Kolad is perfect for relaxing away from the city crowd. I loved the flora and fauna of this place with beautiful sunsets. It is good that you chose to stay over water. Thanks for all tips about food and common washrooms.

  3. This looks like such an amazing place to really disconnect, unwind, and relax. I love being near the water, so what could possibly be better than a cottage ON the water?
