Photo Tour & Review: Ranjit Vilas, Amritsar

The city that has been on my bucketlist since forever now has been ticket off finally! Amritsar, home to Harmandir Saheb, popularly known as the Golden Temple. While that is a delight in itself, if you’re in Amritsar, we would totally recommend staying at the heritage property of Ranjit Vilas for an authentic Punjabi experience!

Booking: You can book your rooms through their website or through http://www.booking.com. Booking process is smooth and you get a confirmation almost immediately.

Travel: Ranjitvilas is located extremely close to the airport, about 3 kms from the airport and about 11-12 kms from the Golden Temple. Ideally if you’re spending atleast 2 days in Amritsar, it makes sense to stay here.

Hotel: Since it’s a heritage property, it makes you feel like you have transported back in time from the moment you enter. With a tractor at the entrance, a doli placed near the reception and a small bridge that you have to cross to enter into the activity area, Ranjit Vilas wows at every step. You can fly a kite, play games, ride bicycles and just enjoy a walk around the property in the day. By the night, they have a bonfire and food prepared on carts to give you a Punjabi village feel! Perfect!

Rooms: The rooms are worth a mention. Every room is spacious and has a little balcony besides the other basic amenities. The rooms are also themed and have interesting names, “Kale Da Kamra”, “Kesar Singh Da Kamra”, “Jaswant Kaur Da Kamra” to name a few.

Restaurant: Since we visited Amritsar in the winters, the seating for dinner was outdoors; a bonfire, hot and succulent kebabs, spirits of your choice and an authentic Punjabi menu with some great music. The buffet breakfast is served in their indoor restaurant and though it’s not too extensive, it’s quite satisfying.

Service: A big and special mention to the service staff. They go out of their way to make sure your experience is going well. Also, a special mention to the host and owner of the property, Viren Saheb Makhni. He was always around to ensure our experience was going well and checking on the comfort of the guests.

Getting There: They have a pickup from the airport or stations. If not you can get a prepaid taxi from the airport to get here.

Overall, if you’re visiting Amritsar to explore the city and have a great stay with your family and friends, we would totally recommend Ranjit Vilas. Definitely going back here.
